Clean-Up & Recycle SA Week 2026 is almost here! From 14–20 September 2026, South Africans across the country will roll up their sleeves and take pride in where they live, work, learn, and play.

This year’s theme, “It Starts With Me,” reminds us that creating a cleaner, greener South Africa begins with individual action.

Celebrating 30 Years of Impact!

For 30 years, Plastics SA has coordinated this national campaign, uniting volunteers, Producer Responsibility Organisations (Petco, Polyco, SAVA, EWASA, MetPac-SA, Fibre Circle, The Glass Recycling Company), government, NGOs, and local communities.

Throughout September, clean-up events will take place nationwide, supported by 500,000 iconic yellow clean-up bags distributed to local coordinators.

How can you get involved?

• Organize or join a local clean-up in your neighborhood, school, or workplace.

• Reduce, reuse, and recycle responsibly.

• Share your clean-up pictures using the hashtag below!

The organisers are encouraging schools, businesses, community organisations, municipalities, environmental groups and individuals to either participate in an existing clean-up or organise one of their own. Information about registered clean-up coordinators across South Africa is available at  www.cleanupandrecycle.co.za. Members of the public are encouraged
to contact the coordinator nearest to them to join an existing clean-up, or to register and organise one of their own.
