Polystyrene... that's HOT

29 July 2010
The Hotbox is a simple invention which has its origins in England, when in the late 1930's there was a dire threat of an oil embargo and the Government encouraged the use of boxes filled with hay that would go on cooking slowly all day.

The hot box is exactly that - a box that stays hot! And you can go on cooking your food all day with no effort and no electricity. All you need is a cardboard box, lined inside, with fabric "cushions" filled with polystyrene chips (or straw or hay or even fabric strips, but polystyrene is the best heat conductor)... and 'voila'!

Bon Appetit.
