New Chapter for Plastics Industry

The Plastics Federation of South Africa (PFSA) has officially changed its name and brand identity as part of its aim to represent a South African plastics industry that is dynamic, modern and in step with international developments. Now known as Plastics|SA, we will roll out a new visual identity that clearly identifies us with both the local and global markets. More than merely being a pretty picture and modern front face, the new identity also aims to represent recent changes in the organization’s senior management, structure, vision and strategic direction.

Why the change?

During the past three years, the local and international plastics landscape has undergone dramatic changes and developments. A greater demand to be environmentally responsible and sustainable, an acute awareness of consumer health and safety, tougher economic conditions and new entrants to the plastics markets have all had a dramatic impact on the way business in the plastics industry is being conducted and the way in which the plastics story is being communicated.

As such, it needs a body that not only represents itself on the local stage, but will also be recognized as an international counterpart to the likes of Plastics Europe.

The new corporate identity is easy to identify with, and the new name communicates that Plastics|SA is inclusive, dynamic, energized, approachable and truly representative of a South African plastics industry that is not afraid to embrace change, vibrant and active in its approach to a business sector that is poised for growth.

A new name and logo have been developed with the aim of elevating the South African plastics industry to a level that is on a par with international trends and the direction the world leaders are taking.

As a local employer of more than 40 000 people, and delivering a combined industry turnover of R35 billion per annum, the South African plastics chain was recently identified as a priority sector by Government.

New Brand Identity

New Leadership

Anton Hanekom has been appointed as the new Executive Director to champion the new strategic direction and future of Plastics|SA.

Previously the Training Director for the PFSA, Anton has a thorough and in-depth understanding of the plastics industry and clearly grasps the needs and challenges that are to be addressed. He has been Acting Executive Director for the past 8 months and actively involved in revamping the organization and re-writing its renewed vision, mission and strategic plan.
